Role Overview

The Assistant Manager supports the Store General Manager in all aspects of retail operations, ensuring exceptional service, operational excellence, and commercial success. Acting as second-in-command, this role provides leadership, coaching, and strategic direction to the store team while maintaining high brand standards and driving performance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Store Manager in all daily operational activities, maintaining consistency and efficiency.

  • Assume full managerial responsibility in the absence of the Store Manager.

  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of store operations, systems, and procedures.

  • Ensure all team members are well-informed on products, trends, and company values.

  • Lead by example in delivering exceptional customer service.

  • Drive sales and profitability by motivating and inspiring the team to meet and exceed KPIs.

  • Identify opportunities for performance improvement and communicate regularly with management.

  • Maintain store presentation standards through regular floor walks, stock replenishment, and adherence to VM guidelines.

  • Support financial objectives including wage-to-sales ratios, shrinkage control, and revenue management.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe environment for staff and customers.


Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in retail management within a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong understanding of retail operations, systems, and processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams.

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and decision-making skills.

  • Commercially focused with a track record of achieving sales and performance targets.

  • Professional, diplomatic, and capable of handling sensitive situations effectively.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and sound judgement based on experience and best practice.
