The Americana trend is staying strong this Fall/Winter season, as Coach presented their Prairie inspired collection. Creative director Stuart Vevers has taken their ready-to-wear from strength to strength, teaming florals with strong leather jackets and sheepskin appearing throughout.
The collection featured both women's and men's looks, with warm browns, tans, and yellows and pops of turquoise. Models strolled through grasslands on the Manhattan catwalk. It was a celebration of American countryside mixed with that old New York style, the Prairie meets Hip Hop. Ruffles and corrugated rubber heels were juxtaposed by varsity jackets and the humble check shirt.
Vevers played with proportions throughout the collection, with both the clothes and the accessories. The skirts were longline, the jackets were either cropped or longline, the shoes all boasted chunky platform soles - whether a sandal or boot. Although the clothes were in themselves stunning, it was the accessories that were a real point of difference. With its origins as a leather goods brand, we would expect nothing less from Coach. Giant shearling hats were contrasted by miniaturised bags, including a limited edition piece called the Rogue 17.
